ABOUT INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE This is an ancient treatment used regularly by families and barbers in India. Traditionally, Indian women would massage oil into each others hair to improve its condition and lustre. Men visiting a barber would often be given quite a vigorous scalp massage as part of their treatment. This tradition has been expanded for Western use to include a massage of upper back, arms, neck, scalp and face and is an excellent treatment for anyone who carries their stress and tension in these areas. It is usually found that, just by relaxing the top part of the body, the whole body feels more relaxed. The treatment is given in a seated position, usually clothed with the option of using oils on the head to improve condition of the hair and scalp. Coconut oil is traditionally used and does smell wonderful! The longer the oil is left on the scalp after the treatment, the better the condition of the hair afterwards. This is excellent for anyone who suffers from a dry scalp or dandruff. This therapy usually lasts approximately 40 minutes although it can be shortened if the client has time constraints or any condition which may indicate that a shorter treatment is more appropriate. This would be an excellent treatment for a lunch hour (obviously without using oil on the hair) as, although it is very relaxing, many people feel quite energised afterwards.
